Accountable Development Finance (ADF) is a joint project of the IUF and GLJ-ILRF, who work together to promote workers’ rights in development. Intended as a resource for researchers, civil society organizations, trade unions, and development finance professionals, this website details DFI investments in the hotel industry, focusing on how those investments affect hotel workers.
Accountable Development Finance gathers data about DFI investments in the hotel industry using a comprehensive map and database of DFI hotel investments. Compiled according to this methodology, the database contains information about the kinds and amounts of financing provided to DFI hotel projects and the brands and management companies involved in these projects.
Drawing on the IUF and GLJ-ILRF’s work on the ground with hotel workers employed by DFI-financed hotels, the Impacts Section outlines the DFI safeguards intended to protect workers, introduces workers from DFI-financed hotels, and analyzes the effectiveness of safeguards through case studies focused on DFI-financed hotels.
The Solutions Section highlights the IUF and GLJ-ILRF’s proposal to improve safeguard compliance, protect workers’ rights, and ensure that DFI projects generate inclusive prosperity for the communities that host them.
